As some of you know, I’ve been running around the Bay Area on a 9-day-long book tour, where I also have been spreading the word about Face News. I’ve connected up the Central Valley and into the Bay Area, which is exciting for this little news site. The Fresno Bee and Fresno Famous have been a big help in broadening our audience.
I’ve been getting lots of interesting press releases in the meantime. I saw that the toxicology results on the death of Mark Ponder were released. Still seems kind of suspicious if you ask me. Still worth digging into. Not sure if I will. But wouldn’t it be interesting to see Ponder’s phone records for the morning of his disappearance?
Currently, I’m waterlogged. I walked through part of San Francisco on a very rainy Tuesday. My right shoe is soggy and I have a poncho that according to one Bako musician, makes me look like a grumpy smurf. I won’t deny that, though I am having good times.
I’m excited to announce that discussions for my book of essays are going well with a Bay Area publisher and that new discussions have opened up for a very interesting book that would illuminate the Central Valley in a fun way.
I’ll be back in Bakersfield soon, and then the news here will kick into gear again. In the meantime, if you want to follow my adventures, then log onto Twitter.com/nickbelardes. I’ll be at Channel 30 in Pleasanton, Calif., on Wednesday filming a half-hour show on my book of oddities, Random Obsessions. I’ll be sure to talk up the Central Valley.
On Oct. 16 I will be at the Seaside Borders in Monterey, Calif. at 6 p.m. And there are a million other adventures along the way.
I’m excited to be heading back to Bako soon. I heard it’s blustery and dusty there today… I don’t miss dust storms. – Nick Belardes
