According to a press release sent out by the Bakersfield Police Department, on June 18, at about 7:38 p.m., a man with a tattoo on his left forearm and a small patch of black hair on his chin entered the Bargain Cigarettes store located at 2651 Oswell Street, Suite A. The man acted like he was a customer when he suddenly walked behind the store counter and assaulted the female clerk with a stun gun, police said.
The female clerk can be seen in stills from surveillance video raising her arm in self defense and then distraught after the attack.
Police said the man then took money from the cash register and a cigar box with cash and fled the business on foot.
Police didn’t say why it took so long to release information on the robbery and suspect.
