Fire crews are still mopping up after the Wofford Complex fire east of Bakersfield, which contained at least 8 separate blazes.
According to the Kern County Fire Department, they received word at 9:28 a.m. on Monday of a grass fire at the Main Dam of Lake Isabella along Highway 155. Shortly afterwards, many more calls were received for another fire further along Highway 155 at the junction of Sawmill Road, and 6 smaller fires near to Wofford Heights.
The US Forest Service and B.L.M. battled the various blazes that together reached 50 acres in size.

The Kern County Fire Department said they dispatched 7 engines, 11 patrols, 3 hand crews, 2 dozers and 2 water tenders to the fire in addition to several management resources totaling approximately 100 personnel.
Also on scene were another 100 personnel from the Forest Service and B.L.M. Fire officials said air support was provided from 1 air tanker and 3 3elicopters, including H-408. Water drops assisted ground personnel in preventing the blaze from reaching around 100 nearby structures.
Captain Brandon Smith of the Kern County Fire Department told Face News, “We still have a hand crew out there.” He said that as humidity drops and temperatures rise, there could be a few more smoldering areas. “We expect to be fully contained as of 6 p.m. the evening,” he said.
As for the cause of the fire, most likely it’s not arson. Captain Smith said there were multiple reports of a possible malfunctioning vehicle that may have been dragged something behind it. “Vehicle parts have been found here and there,” he said. He added that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
